Victims of Babi Yar in Kiev are remembered

It was a bloody day in the history of Ukraine as they mark the 75th anniversary of the massacre of nearly 34,000 Jews all in the short space of 2 days.

A crime perpetrated in 1941 whilst the city was under Nazi occupation. Some of the worst atrocities of the WWII and what’s even worse about it was the part played by the Ukrainian militia who willing gave a helping hand to the SS troops.

“If we permit ourselves to forget the horrors of the Holocaust and the reasons which brought it on, then we enable it to happen again,” said Natan Sharansky, chairman of the Executive Board of the Jewish Agency for Israel.
