How was your act started?
I started a World Peace Magazine for World Leaders (Russia and U.S) in 1983. It was called The Earth Magazine and Tape Package. Started with slides of a magazine cover I created, made into a multimedia painting. Slides of that Painting were sent along with a tape of music of songs I sang and wrote the lyrics for working with various musicians. I called ourselves AUP (Artists for a United Planet). These oil, acrylic and encaustic paintings were produced in 1983 and 1984. They were sent to Gorbachev and Reagan. They were sent along with a cassette music as related above. I worked at another job to finance the production and live so the projects took 1 year each to finish and went out in December.
In 1987 I turned to an actual color magazine that I created covers for, an essay and art within. They were made into pages for a magazine by businesses that created color copies. I cut and assembled the pages and bound them. I made three of these, 1988, 1989, and 1997. The 1989 mag. sported a photo of an unfinished (purposely) painting for PEACE and various essays from Norway, a NJ Grade school’s essays on Nuclear War and what it meant to them, an essay by myself and a Doctor from Michigan along with about 20l reproductions of Artwork by a young Russian immigrant to the U.S. (Yana),. Pictures of the band, and my personal artistic creations. The 1997 mag. was done from artwork created on a computer, and like all other mags, accompanied by a cassette of rock music by AUP.
Can you tell our listeners about your act?
Please reference above.
Have you ever been in a band?
Yes a Studio Band also mentioned above = AUP.
Where are all act members from?
We all lived in Boston MA.
Do you do everything as an act?
(I fought a continuing bout with alcohol and now clean for 17 years, in January, with the help of Antabuse.) In 1992, we became an actual group (still Studio but with recurring musicians). I wrote the songs and sang them and others created the music. This lasted until 1997 and I married and moved away from Boston. In2014 we got together again for one song “I Heard it On the Radio”. In January of 2016 I took guitar lessons, got good enough to be a songwriter and continued with writing the prose and singing and playing electric guitar in my own studio.
We do plan to get together again, but 2 members moved to the West coast and 2 are married with families).
You can view some of my paintings as cover art for songs produced solo and by the complete band at
