Lifting spirits and putting out flames

by Deanna Maria R & Emmy Hikins

Australian firefighters have been in combat with bush fires for what seems like decades. These compassionate fire fighters’ hearts ache for those who have lost so much. In order to continue helping fight the flames that have caused millions of dollars in property damage, taken lives, and made many homeless including wildlife; one fire fighter has made it his mission to raise the spirits of his crew.

Taking to TIK TOK, Chris Rumpf, an Australian fire fighter, dances his way across the screen for notoriety, but not in the way you might think. He did it for his crew. Noting that spirits were down among his crew, from months of fighting bush fires and emotional toll, Chris created a dance to lift moral on TIK TOK. The video went viral. Now his crew has taken the spotlight to contribute their part in lifting spirits too.

Of course there are negative comments from those on social media, but Chris Rumpf ignores them, expressing that most people have given positive feedback. If dancing on TIK TOK helps people across the globe understand and support his crew, he’d do it again in a heartbeat. The bush fires have already caused great devastation, Chris isn’t giving the flames his crew’s spirits too. He’s fighting back through dance.
