A Banal and sophomoric performance from klopp’s boys saw Liverpool fall to a gallant Southampton side by a goal to nothing.

Liverpool had made four changes to the team that lost at the weekend and needed to win this one in other to lift the team spirit as well as a chance to fight for a trophy this season.

The first half was frustrating for the home as the saints settled in well with a barrage of counter attacks, while  Liverpool found it difficult to get a clear cut edge in the final third.

The host started the second half a bit shaky, not able to put three passes together as the saints continue to show bravery.

A powerful strike from Emre Can in the 54the minute saw the saint’s goalie spilling the ball but was quick to recover and palm the ball out right on the line.

The introduction of Origi combining with Sturridge and Roberto  Firmino in the attack did not yield any good for the host.

A counter attack by by the visitors in the added time of the second half after a Liverpool corner kick saw Sims  fire through the middle of the pitch into the Liverpool half before finding Long who tees pass Henderson and then slots the ball into the back of the net right pass Karius to make it  0-2 aggregate.
