One of the most influential hip hop acts of all time, according to a euronews interview, Wu-Tang clan members talk to the interviewer about their ‘career, politics, and why Black Lives matter’. The hip hop group, started in 1992 out of New York, and has sold over 40,000,000 records worldwide. The interview took place in the group’s dressing room, in Dubai, prior to going on stage. It is the group’s first time at the Soul DXB festival in the United Arab Emirates. One member of the group, Inspectah Deck, states, ‘it’s my first time here…I’m loving it…I caught a late flight…but I’m here…we’re going to tear the roof off this piece tonight ya know’. Wanting to give the audience what they expect from the clan, they are ready to deliver a high-energy concert.
The interviewer then asks what the group’s views are on Dubai. The answer? They love Dubai. According to U-God, one of the group members, who especially likes it because of ‘No guns really…no gun violence’. The group believes that the small country of Dubai, with different and stricter laws in some areas, is better in some respects then the US. Another tells of meeting the humble people of Dubai while at a mall and compares it, in his experience, to the states, ‘if you drop your wallet, you get your wallet back’. The group feels it is a blessing to be in Dubai. Continuing with talk about US politics and Black lives, Wu-Tang Clan says their biggest blessing is ‘to be able to inspire people’.
