Behind the scenes story: Trevor Gear with “Hold My Hand”

Stephen Sutton was 19 years old when he died from cancer in 2014.  He was an online blogger and he displayed remarkable courage in the face of what he knew was a terminal illness.

He raised over £500K for the Teenage Cancer Trust having been diagnosed with bowel cancer at the age of 15, and he was subsequently awarded the MBE for his charity work before he died.

His story has since raised well over £5M for the Trust. Stephen was truly inspirational and his sad story prompted me to write this song as my way of paying tribute to this young man.

The song ponders the thoughts and feelings that would surely accompany being given a terminal illness diagnosis.
